Well, again, not much to say. I think I am starting to get used to being in a foreign country. The language is still not English, but I'm used to looking at a sign not realizing that I might not know every word. Of course, this lead to me cooking something in the oven that I sould have cooked in a frying pan. Oh, well.
You know what's funny? I know what classes I can take in the fall (at UConn), but I don't know what classes I'll be able to take this summer in Freiburg. I am hoping to be able to take 2 math classes, a math related (AI!), a western culture, and a non-western culture. If I can do that, then my schedule for the fall is all figured out and I will be able to graduate with my last semester being super-relaxed (at least as far as course load. Preparing for grad school will not be relaxing). In case anyone cares, if I get the classes I want in Feiburg, this fall I will be taking MATH 273Q, MATH 315 (grad abstract algebra), GERM 240W, and SOCI 107W. Math on T/Th and W's on MWF. If I only take 4 classes, that will be the lightest course load since my first semester in college, when I was a part-time student!
PeopleSoft won't let me log in from Germany, because it tries to translate the page, but the course list is not available in German. I emailed UConn about this, and hopefully they will disable the dumb translation feature.
I have been standing at this computer for probably well over and hour and a half now. If all goes my way, which it won't, I hope to get my computer connected to the Internet (not in my room, however), by Monday or Tuesday.
Well, I think I'm going to try to find an old Vorlesungsverzeichnis (class schedule) in the library for the summer semester to see what I can expect to get. I hope I'll be able to take 5 courses...
