Well, yesterday I spoke with the director of the Connecticut-Germany exchange program. I learned that I will be (probably) landing in Frankfurt, Germany around January 7th, 2004. I will have a grad-student from Germany meet me there, if things go as planned. The current plan is to have as many UConn students go together. So, after that, the hope is that all the Uconn students will proceed to Freiburg for the first 12 weeks of intensive language training. It is also quite likely that a lot of us will remain in Freiburg for the rest of the semester (instead of switching after language training).
Freiburg looks like a great place. It's right on the border of the black forest. It sits about as far south-west in Germany as you can get.
I have to call them again today to follow up on some stuff from yesterday. Once Thanksgiving break is over, I should hear about financial aid, etc and get even more solid details.
